EMPLOYERS NATIONAL INSURANCE

One of the key points from the autumn budget was the increase in Employers’ National Insurance.

From 6 April 2025 HMRC are reducing the secondary threshold from £9,100 per year to £5,000 per annum.  The secondary threshold is the point at which employers start paying National Insurance on their Employees’ wages.  HMRC are also increasing the rate from 13.8% to 15%.

This represents quite a significant increase for Employers.  For Employees earning £30,000 per annum the Employer cost will rise by more than £860 per annum.  For Employers with multiple Employees on a salary at a similar level this is quite a tax hike.

If you are concerned about the additional liability, please contact Marsland Nash Payroll on 01803 698 928 and we will be happy to provide you with forecasted figures to assist you with budgeting for the forthcoming financial year.
